Analiza żartów w monologach amerykańskich programów typu “late-night” z perspektywy teorii relewancji

Ze względu na znaczenie telewizji “late-night” we współczesnej kulturze amerykańskiej, praca ma na celu ustanowić żart “late-night” jako niepowtarzalną formę komunikacji i zbadać procesy poznawcze związane z rozumieniem tego typu humoru. Dogłębna analiza korpusu, na który składają się żarty z monologów w dwóch amerykańskich programach typu “late-night”, "Conan" oraz "Late Night with Seth Meyers", z perspektywy teorii relewancji, umożliwiła dokonania klasyfikacji żartów, uzasadnienia różnic pomiędzy programami lub ramami czasowymi, a także wyjaśnienia aktualności żartów.

Due to the prominence of late-night television in contemporary American culture, the paper aims to establish the late-night joke as a unique form of communication and investigate the cognitive processes involved in the comprehension of this type of humour. An in-depth analysis of a corpus comprised of monologue jokes from two American late-night talk shows, "Conan" and "Late Night with Seth Meyers", within a relevance-theoretic framework, leads to a classification of late-night jokes, a justification of differences emerging between the shows or specific time periods, and an examination of the jokes’ topicality.
