Praca pt. Obraz Cyganów w kinie słowackim ma na celu zainteresowanie czytelników zarówno kinem etnograficznym, poruszającym tematykę cygańską, jak i słowacką kinematografią. To jak dotąd temat mało znany w Polsce, mimo że dotyczy naszych sąsiadów. Słowackie kino jest bardzo ciekawe i choć jego historia nie jest długa, to zaznaczyły się w niej wybitne indywidualności. Zainteresowanie etnografią zauważyć można już w pierwszych słowackich filmach, dlatego nie powinien dziwić fakt, iż twórcy tak chętnie podejmują się tematu dotyczącego jednej z najliczniejszych na Słowacji grup etnicznych, jaką są Cyganie. Skupiłam się na opisaniu zarówno filmów dokumentalnych jak i fabularnych, które opisane chronologicznie obrazują nie tylko rozwój kinematografii, ale przede wszystkim zmianę w postrzeganiu tej społeczności. Większy nacisk położyłam jednak na dokument, który w tej tematyce bez wątpienia wiedzie prym. Filmy o Cyganach tworzone są także na zlecenie telewizji i choć ich poziom jest często znacznie niższy, to są one ważne, gdyż mają znaczący wpływ na społeczną świadomość i zmianę wizerunku tej mniejszości. Praca zawiera również ogólne informacje na temat cygańskiej kultury, która bardzo często stanowi podstawową inspirację reżyserów filmowych. Ważne było nakreślenie ekonomiczno-społecznej sytuacji Romów na Słowacji, ponieważ jest ona często kluczem do zrozumienia dzieła filmowego i intencji jego twórcy.

Work Image of gypsies in the Slovak cinema is to interest readers in both ethnographic cinema, thrilling theme gypsy and Slovak cinematography. It is as yet little known topic in Poland, although it relates to our neighbors. Slovak cinema is very interesting, and although his story is not long, is marked with her outstanding personality. The interest in ethnography can be observed in the first Slovak film, and should therefore not surprising that directors are so willing to take the theme of one of the largest ethnic groups in Slovakia, which are the Gypsies. I focused on describing both documentaries and feature films, which are described chronologically illustrate not only development of the cinema, but also a change in the perception of that community. But I put more emphasis on the document, which in this field, without doubt leading the way. Films about Gypsies are also created at the request of television, and although their levels are often much lower, they are important because they have a significant impact on public awareness and change the image of the minority. Work also includes general information about the Gypsy culture, which very often is the basic inspiration from film directors. It was important to outline the economic and social situation of Roma in Slovakia, because it is often the key to understanding the film work and intentions of its creators.
