Reumatoidalne zapalenie stawów jest postępującą, przewlekłą układową chorobą tkanki łącznej. Etiologia jej jest w dalszym ciągu nieznana. Proces zapalny obejmuje głównie błonę maziową stawów. Zmiany są symetryczne, wielomiejscowe prowadzą do deformacji i upośledzenia funkcji ruchu. Zaspokojenie podstawowych potrzeb uzależnione jest od pomocy innych osób.Celem pracy było poznanie przebiegu reumatoidalnego zapalenia stawów na przykładzie pacjentki M.L. oraz opracowanie problemów zdrowotnych występujących u tej chorej. Metodą badawczą, którą posłużono się w pracy było studium indywidualnego przypadku. Jako materiał badawczy posłużył wywiad, analiza dokumentacji medycznej, obserwacje, pomiar podstawowych parametrów życiowych oraz udział w opiece nad chorą w trakcie pobytu w Oddziale Rehabilitacji i Reumatologii.W leczeniu reumatoidalnego zapalenia stawów istotną sprawę stanowi szybkie rozpoznanie na podstawie badań klinicznych, radiologicznych i immunologicznych. Metody te pozwalają rozpoznać chorobę oraz wykluczyć inne schorzenia i ustalić leczenie. Głównymi problemami pacjentki są ból oraz ograniczenie funkcjonalności w życiu społecznym.

Rheumatoid arthritis ia a progressing, chronic, systemic disease of the connective tissue. Its etimology is still unknown. The inflamation affects mainly synovial membrance. The changes are symetrical and present in many places; they lead to deformity and motor disability. Meeting patient's basic needs is dependent on other people's help. The aim of this thesis was to follow the course of rheumatois arthritis of a patient M.L. and the study of her health problems.The research method used in this thesis was the study of individual case. The research material included: medical history, the analysis of medical documentation, observations, measurement of vital parameters and nursing the patient during her stay in Rehabilitation and Reumatology Ward. The essential thing in treatment rheumatoid arthritis is early diagnosis based on clinical, radiological and immunological tests. These methods allow to diagnose disease, help eliminate others and administer proper treatment. The main problems of the patient with rheumatoid arthritis are: pain and limitations connected with social life.
