Neologisms in the Slovak translation of Przygody Sindbada Żeglarza by Bolesław Leśmian

Przedmiotem pracy jest problematyka tłumaczenia neologizmów w utworze Przygody Sindbada Żeglarza Bolesława Leśmiana, na język słowacki. Celem pracy jest klasyfikacja 36 wyekscerpowanych neologizmów oraz ocena poziomu ekwiwalencji, jaką osiągnął tłumacz podczas przekładu książki. Do analizy wykorzystany został przekład autorstwa Félixa Uváčka Príbehy námorníka Sindbáda. Zawarte w podanych źródłach neologizmy zostały przydzielone do określonych kategorii i poddane analizie porównawczej. Na podstawie analizy została podjęta próba oceny, czy tłumaczowi udało się dokonać przekładu umożliwiającego słowackiemu czytelnikowi pełną percepcję stylu Bolesława Leśmiana, którego nośnikami są między innymi właśnie neologizmy. W pracy przedstawiono i omówiono wyjaśnienia pojęcia neologizmu, klasyfikacji neologizmów, kryteria określania nowości neologizmów oraz cele tworzenia neologizmów. W pracy podjęto także analizę zagadnień związanych z przekładem. Praca dotyczy wybranych obszarów tematycznych z zakresu teorii przekładu i językoznawstwa.

The subject of the work is the problem of translating neologisms in the book Przygody Sindbada Żeglarza by Bolesław Leśmian into Slovak. The aim of the work is to classify 36 excerpted neologisms and assess the level of equivalence achieved by the translator when translating the book. The translation by Félix Uváček Príbehy námorník Sindbád was used for the analysis. The neologisms contained in the sources provided were assigned to specific categories and subjected to comparative analysis. Based on the analysis, an attempt was made to assess whether the translator managed to make a translation that would enable the Slovak reader to fully perceive Bolesław Leśmian's style, whose important elements are, among others, neologisms. The work presents and discusses explanations of the concept of neologism, the classification of neologisms, criteria for determining the novelty of neologisms and the goals of creating neologisms. The work also analyzes issues related to translation. The work covers selected thematic areas in the field of translation theory and linguistics.
