Rewolucja seksualna, której początki sięgają końca lat 40. XX wieku, była niezwykle ważnym zjawiskiem dla społeczeństwa i kultury Stanów Zjednoczonych. Zmiany społeczno-obyczajowe, do jakich wtedy doszło, uwarunkowały postrzeganie tematu ludzkiej seksualności nie tylko wśród Amerykanów, ale także wśród przedstawicieli innych kultur cywilizacji zachodniej. Był to moment zwrotny w historii, dzięki któremu nastąpiła liberalizacja moralna. Młodzi Amerykanie zaczęli odchodzić od konserwatywnych zasad zachowania i przestali postrzegać tematy erotyki za tabu. Rewolucja seksualna zapoczątkowała również kolejne ruchy i przemiany społeczne. Na przestrzeni dekad zmieniła się zarówno dotychczasowa amerykańska hierarchia wartości jak i charakter Stanów Zjednoczonych czy postrzeganie tego kraju przez inne narody. The beginnings of the sexual revolution date back to the late 1940's in XX century. It was an extremely important phenomenon for american society and for the culture of the United States of America. The social and moral changes, which started during that period, determined the perception of human sexuality not only among Americans, but also among other nations of western civilization. It was a turning point for american history and thanks to it a moral liberalization occured. Young Americans did not want to practice conservative behaviours anymore. The subjects of erotica were not considered taboo due to the changes. The sexual revolution started famous movements, which were fighting for liberalization and change of laws. Over the two decades the hierarchy of american values and the character of United States has changed. As well as the perception of this country by other nations. The presented thesis concerns the genesis of the sexual revolution and it magnifies the importance of three topics:1. The presentation of the reality of late 1940's and 1950's in the XX century in the United States of America.2. The significance of doctor Alfred Kinsey's work and it's influence on the beginnings of the revolution.3. Other important occurences for the sexual revolution and it's origins (homosexualism, feminist movements, the invention of contraception, the beginnings of pornography industry and the rockandroll revolution).The first chapter of the thesis presents the reality of United States in the late 1940's and 1950's of the XX century. An exceptionally important subject here are social and cultural conditions of the decades, the impact of World War II and the Cold War. It was important to show how influential this events were and how they changed the perception of the world and morality of a generation of young people living back then. The second chapter focuses over Alfred Kinsey's life and his researches in the area of human sexuality in the United States. Particular attention was paid to the meaning and the validity of his work and how it affected the revolution. His two reports: "The Sexual Behavior in the Human Male" and "The Sexual Behavior in the Human Female" were mentioned and their importance was noted.The third chapter is about the history of contraceptive pill, situation of homosexuals and feminists in the United States during the two decades, the beginnings of porn industry and Hugh Hefner's influence on the sexual revolution and the history of rockandroll revolution. The author mentioned the significance of those events for creating a new morality by a generation of young Americans.The purpose of this thesis is to describe the incidents that were influential for the origins of the sexual revolution in the United States of America and to present the changes that occured in the american society due to that phenomenon.
