Indian Education in Canada since the 1960s from two different perspectives.

Głównym celem mojej pracy jest omówienie rozwoju edukacji Indian w Kanadzie od lat 60. XX wieku aż do dnia dzisiejszego z dwóch różnych perspektyw - z perspektywy władz kanadyjskich oraz z perspektywy społeczności indiańskich. Pierwszy rozdział zawiera ogólną charakterystykę natives oraz ich sytuację ekonomiczną, socjalną i edukacyjną. Kolejne dwa rozdziały zajmują się problematyką reformy edukacji na poszczególnych szczeblach nauki na przestrzeni lat oraz ukazują zmiany i dokumenty mające największy wpływ na kształt edukacji Indian. Ostatni rozdział podsumowuje wcześniejsze rozważania oraz przedstawia teraźniejszość i przyszłość edukacji natives z perspektywy rządu oraz Indian.

The main aim of my thesis is to present the development of Indian education in Canada since the 1960s from two different perspectives - the perspective of the Government and the perspective of the Indians. In the first chapter there are presented general characteristics of the natives and their social, economic and educational situation. The next two chapters are devoted to the reforms of education on every level through the years. Moreover those chapters are devoted to laws and changes which had the biggest impact on the shape of the Indian education. The last chapter recapitulates the whole thesis and outlines the present and the future of the Indian education from the perspective of the Government and the perspective of the Indians.
