Century of humiliation and partitions of Poland. Comparative analysis with exhibition of similarity of cycles

Praca ta porusza temat powstały w wyniku połączenia zainteresowań historycznych autora z przedmiotem studiowanego przez niego kierunku. Zestawia ona ze sobą dwa procesy historyczne, które zaszły w dziejach Chin i Polski, próbując wykazać, że między nimi istotnie zachodziły pewne podobieństwa. Bazując na dostępnych źródłach pisanych, autor po kolei najpierw omawia okresy historyczne będące częściami procesu upadku obu krajów, a potem zajmuje się zestawieniem ich ze sobą, by odkryć czy istniały między nimi paralele. Praca została skonstruowana i podzielona chronologicznie, tak by czytelnik mógł krok po kroku podążać za historią i obserwować zachodzące w niej procesy. W pierwszym rozdziale ukazane są momenty, w których oba państwa były na szczycie. Jest to punkt wyjściowy całej historii upadku, która omawiana jest w drugim rozdziale. Trzeci rozdział skupia się na omówieniu ostatnich chwil obu państw, gdy ostatecznie zawiodły próby reform, a dotychczasowa forma rządów upadła.

This paper is a result of combination of authors’ interest in history and the subject matter of the Far East studies. It compares two processes that took place in history of Poland and China and then examines similar patterns that occurred in both examples. It is based on sources written by various historians, both Polish and foreign. The historical processes are described in a chronological fashion and history of Poland is interwined with history of China in several chapters, so the readers can clearly see differences and similarities between each historical period. This way, the paper shows us that both countries share more similarities than one would normally think. The first chapter discusses the height of power of both countries. It is the same moment in which gradual decline started and this decline is described and discussed in the second chapter. Finally, the third chapter focuses on last attempts at reform and eventual fall of the Qing and Commonwealth.
