"Language of Slovak Hip-Hop: Slang Dictionary"

Praca ma na celu przekrojowe zaprezentowanie bogactwa słowackiego slangu na przykładzie języka używanego przez tamtejszych raperów. Materiał językowy dla pracy został opracowany na podstawie 21 albumów rapowych wybranych przez autora pracy spośród wydanych na Słowacji w ostatniej dekadzie. Muzyka hiphopowa została uznana za najlepsze źródło wyrazowe dla pracy ze względu na jej związek ze slangiem: posługuje się nim, będąc równocześnie jego nośnikiem. Centralną częścią pracy jest zawierający ponad 950 wyrazów hasłowych Słownik, z których każde opatrzone jest przynajmniej jednym cytatem dokumentującym użycie opisywanego słowa. Rozdział pierwszy pracy opisuje zarówno slang, jak i rap, a także ich związek. Rozdział drugi wyjaśnia kryteria doboru haseł Słownika, informuje na temat jego źródeł i wyjaśnia jego system. Rozdział trzeci stanowi Słownik. Rozdział czwarty uzupełnia informacje zawarte w Słowniku o dodatkowe elementy, m.in pominiętą w nim gramatykę. Rozdział piąty prezentuje na przykładach ze Słownika główne aspekty słowackiego slangu.

The aim of the thesis is to present the wealth of the Slovak slang with the example of the language used by Slovak rappers. The text corpus was compiled on the basis of 21 rap albums chosen by the author of the thesis among those released in Slovakia in the last decade. Hip-hop music was assumed to be the best source of vocabulary for the thesis because of its connection to slang: the music uses the slang, being at the same time its carrier. The central part of the thesis is the Dictionary which consists of more than 950 entries, each of them containing at least one quotation documenting the use of the defined word. The first chapter describes both slang and rap as well as their correlation. The second chapter explains selection criteria for the Index entries, its sources and system. The third chapter consists of the Dictionary. The fourth chapter complements the information contained in the Dictionary with additional elements, among others, the grammar skipped in the third chapter. The fifth chapter presents main aspects of the Slovak slang with examples from the Dictionary.
