The Activities of the special forces of Ukraine and the Russian Federation during the conflict in Ukraine

Special forces, as an elite part in the structure of any army, are an important element in combat operations in each modern armed conflict. The Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine has highlighted fundamental differences in the ability to conduct special operations between the attacking side and Ukraine. So far, the Ukrainian Special Forces have gained a clear advantage in this area, which, taking into account the effectiveness of similar Russian formations since 2014, is surprising. So far, the Ukrainian Special Forces have demonstrated a very high level of effectiveness, conducting a series of spectacular operations not only in the territory of Ukraine where the fighting is taking place, but also in the territory of the Russian Federation. The Russian Special Operations Forces seem to be misused, or one can observe the phenomenon of transferring these capabilities to private military companies.
