The problem of preservation of postwar modernist architecture in Poland

Celem pracy jest zastanowienie się nad problemami dotyczącymi ochrony powojennej architektury modernistycznej w Polsce. Rozważania obejmują zatem zarówno ich prawdopodobne źródła, jak i sugestie pewnych rozwiązań. Z tego powodu opisane zostały realia komunistycznej Polski, z którymi musieli się mierzyć ówcześni architekci oraz współczesne podejście do zachowania reliktów PRL-u. W pracy poruszono także wątek utopijności architektury modernistycznej i wizji nowoczesnego świata.

The aim of the thesis is to reflect on problems related to the preservation of post-war architecture in Poland. The considerations include both, their likely sources and the suggestions of some solutions. For this reason, the realities of communist Poland were described, which architects of that time had to face with, and a contemporary approach to preservation of PRL's relics. In addition, the topic of utopian character of the modernist architecture and the vision of the modern world were also discussed in the work.
