Celem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej jest lektura toskańskiej wersji "Il Milione" Marco Polo jako pre-reportażu. Problem badawczy stanowi pytanie, czy z punktu widzenia współczesnego czytelnika i w świetle teorii reportażu, "Il Milione" mógłby zostać odczytany jako pre-reportaż. Za punkt wyjścia analizy uznaje się teorię Rolanda Barthes’a, która stawia tekst i narratora w centrum uwagi. Część teoretyczna pracy prezentuje przykłady literatury podróżniczej w starożytności i średniowieczu, a także przedstawia wybrane aspekty teorii reportażu.

The purpose of this Master's thesis consists of the lecture of the Tuscan version of "Il Milione" by Marco Polo as a pre-reportage. The question of the thesis is whether "Il Milione" can be considered a pre-reportage from the point of view of a contemporary reader and in the light of reportage theory. The analisis is based on the theory of Roland Barthes, which places the text and the narrator at the center of attention. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the achievements of the travel literature in antiquity and in the Middle Ages, as well as the considerations around reportage.

L’obiettivo della presente tesi consiste nella lettura della versione toscana de "Il Milione" di Marco Polo nell’ottica delle teorie moderne sul reportage. Si cerca di rispondere alla domanda se la relazione poliana possa essere considerata un pre-reportage dal punto di vista di un lettore contemporaneo, ricorrendo alla teoria di Roland Barthes, la quale pone il testo e il narratore al centro dell’attenzione. La parte teorica della tesi presenta le conquiste della letteratura odeporica nell'antichità e nel medioevo, nonché le considerazioni intorno al reportage.
