Christian and Muslim View of the Beginning and the End of the World in a Comparative Perspective.

Celem niniejszej pracy jest omówienie podobieństw i różnic pomiędzy chrześcijańską i muzułmańską wizją początku oraz końca świata. Kwestie te zostały omówione na podstawie lektury Starego i Nowego Testamentu oraz wybranych sur Koranu. W pracy przedstawiono moment narodzenia się chrześcijaństwa i islamu, fragmenty życia Jezusa oraz Muhammada, które wpłynęły na rozwój tych religii, oraz podstawowe zasady wiary. Zwrócono szczególną uwagę na elementy łączące i różniące Biblię oraz Koran w kwestii stworzenia świata oraz jego końca, a także uwzględniono wpływ okresu przedmuzułmańskiego na kształtowanie się mitologii arabskiej.

The aim of the study is to present similarities and differences between Christian and Muslim view of the beginning and the end of the world. These elements were discussed basing on the text of the Old and New Testaments and selected suras of Quran.The work presents the birth of Christianity and Islam, fragments of the life of Jesus and Muhammad which influenced development of these two religions and basic principles of faith. The study focused on the similarities and differences between the Biblie and Quran in terms of the beginning and the end of the world and also included influence of the period of time and state of affairs in Arabia before the advent of Islam and its impact of the uprising of arabic mythology.
