Motif of escapism in literature on the example of The Catcher in the Rye by Salinger and Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Murakami

Niniejsza praca ma na celu przedstawić sposób realizacji motywu eskapizmu w tekście Salingera "Buszujący w zbożu" oraz Murakamiego "Kronika ptaka nakręcacza". W przypadku pierwszego autora motyw eskapistyczny analizowany jest przez pryzmat kłamstwa, presji, erotyki, poczucia wewnętrznej pustki, symbolicznego wymiaru czapki oraz łapacza. W przypadku drugiego przez pryzmat schematyczności, wewnętrznej pustki, erotyki i potrzeby ucieczki. Oba te teksty zostały także porównane i zostały wciągnięte wnioski.

This paper aims to present the method of implementing the theme of escapism in Salinger's text "The Catcher in the Rye" and Murakami's "Wind-Up Bird Chronicle". In the case of the first author, the escapist theme is analyzed through the prism of lies, pressure, eroticism, a sense of inner emptiness, the symbolic dimension of the cap and the catcher. In the case of the second one, through the prism of schematicity, internal emptiness, eroticism and the need to escape. The two texts were also compared and conclusions were drawn.
