Selected Bioethical Problems in Clinical Transplantology

Praca ustala, jak praktyczne dylematy bioetyczne w transplantologii klinicznej wpływają na konkretne rozstrzygnięcia merytoryczne i moralne. Przeprowadzono w pracy porównanie dzisiejszej wiedzy biomedycznej i bioetycznej na podstawie dokumentów regulujących zagadnienia w transplantologii z piśmiennictwem i rozstrzygnięciami etycznymi i praktycznymi stosowanymi w praktyce transplantologicznej w Polsce. Omówiono problemy dawcy, biorcy, lekarzy transplantologów oraz problemy śmierci mózgowej człowieka i szacunku dla zwłok, jak również dawstwa od zwierząt; przedstawiono także odbicie tych problemów w religiach światowych. Wyciągnięto wnioski praktyczne dotyczące rozwiązań bioetycznych stosowanych w transplantologii klinicznej w Polsce.

The present thesis establishes the influence of practical bioethical dilemma on the procedures and moral decisions in clinical transplantology. The thesis presents a comparison of the contemporary biomedical and bioethical expertise based on the documents regulating the problems of transplantology, and the bioethical literature as well as moral and practical solutions adopted in the transplantological practice in Poland. The problems concerning donors, recipients, transplantologists as well as the issues of human brain death, respect for the human corpse and animal-to-human donation have been discussed and juxtaposed with the treatment of these problems in the world’s religions. Practical conclusions concerning bioethical solutions adopted in clinical transplantology in Poland have been formulated.
