Aspects of Legal Language in Audiovisual Translation on the example of TV-series The Suits

Język prawniczy, będący tematyką serialu telewizyjnego jest dużym wyzwaniem podczas tłumaczenia. Celem niniejszej pracy jest zbadanie która ze strategii z zakresu tłumaczenia audiowizualnego lub tłumaczenia prawniczego ma najczęstsze zastosowanie podczas tworzenia napisów w języku polskim dla serialu W Garniturach. Posługując się materiałem źródłowym zbadano 76 przykładów występowania terminologii prawniczej oraz jej tłumaczenia wykonane przez zespół Project Haven. Następnie każdy z przykładów został przypisany do odpowiadającej mu strategii. Tylko wybrane przykłady zostały szerzej opisane.
Legal language, as the main theme of the TV-series, is a big challenge in translation. The aim of this study is to verify which of the strategies, either from audiovisual translation or legal translation, is most frequently used while creating Polish subtitles for TV-series The Suits. With the use of source material, 76 examples form the legal terminology and their translation made by Project Haven have been analysed. Each example has been classified to the proper strategy. Only selected examples have been elaborated on.
