Praca przestawia zawód prywatnego detektywa oraz aspekty prawne świadczenia usług detektywistycznych w Polsce. Przedstawiona została historia zawodu, najsłynniejsi prywatni detektywi w historii oraz ustawodawstwo związane z prywatnymi usługami detektywistycznymi. Praca zawiera dogłębną analizę obowiązującej ustawy o prywatnych usługach detektywistycznych. Głównym problemem poruszonym w opracowaniu jest socjologiczne ujęcie pracy detektywa. Zaprezentowano postrzeganie zawodu przez samo środowisko detektywistyczne, psychoanalizę przedstawiciela zawodu, postrzeganie detektywów przez społeczeństwo, media oraz wymiar sprawiedliwości. Rzeczywistość pracy detektywa została skonfrontowana z filmowym przedstawieniem postaci.

Presents the history of the profession, the most famous private detectives in the history and legislation related to private detective services. The work includes an in-depth analysis of the current law on private detective services. The main issue raised in the paper is a sociological approach to detective work. Presented by the mere perception of the profession of environmental detective, a representative of the profession of psychoanalysis, detectives perception by the public, the media and the judiciary. The reality of detective work has been confronted with a film presentation.
