The theme of the article is showing the most important threads and motives in the „Primeval and Other Times” by Olga Tokarczuk and their widely-understood meaning.There have been taken connections between: magic realism, Valentine’s gnosis, Buddhism (the dżiwanmukta idea) and most of all the myth and C. G. Jung’s conception.The sacred space, understood as a cosmic area, provides the man protection, and being his steady point of reference in the world. The sacred space’s forming is connected with the man’s perception of a supernatural aspect of reality as well as of its symbolic character. As understood, the sacred space constitutes an essential epistemological category in the prose of Olga Tokarczuk.Presented article shows, with the help of Mircea Eliade’s and Carl Gustav Jung’s theories, different aspects of the sacred spaces, and also their multiple functions in „Primeval and Other Times” not only as a central place isolated from the chaos of surrounding areas.
