Erasmus program in the context of the theory and model of Europeanization

Program Erasmus już od ponad trzydziestu lat umożliwia studentom europejskich uczelni wzięcie udziału w wymianie z uczelnią zza granicy. Wyjazd do innego kraju przynosi studentom wiele korzyści - poprawę znajomości języka obecnego, możliwość zawarcia nowych znajomości, naukę samodzielności czy podniesienie kompetencji i kwalifikacji zawodowych. Działalność programu Erasmus jest również w istotnym stopniu powiązana ze zjawiskiem integracji europejskiej i europeizacji. Europeizacja jest pojęciem stosunkowo nowym, jednak coraz częściej badanym i opisywanym. Celem niniejszej pracy licencjackiej jest wyjaśnienie teorii europeizacji i mechanizmów jej działania, w zakresie szkolnictwa wyższego oraz obywatelstwa i poczucia przynależności jednostki do Unii Europejskiej. Ponadto, praca opisuje historię i okoliczności powstania programu Erasmus, jego ewolucję na przestrzeni lat oraz aktualne zasady jego funkcjonowania. Pod koniec zamieszczona jest analiza badania przeprowadzonego wśród polskich studentów, którzy wzięli udział w programie Erasmus. W ankiecie oceniają oni swój pobyt za granicą oraz udzielają odpowiedzi na temat swoich motywacji do wyjazdu. Oceniają również całokształt działań instytucjonalnych Unii Europejskiej oraz swój stosunek wobec organizacji, zarówno przed jak i po wyjeździe, a jeśli uległ on zmianie - wyjaśniają dlaczego. Analiza opinii studentów pozwala na odpowiedź na główne pytanie, postanowione już na początku pracy - czy program Erasmus wpływa na europeizację oddolną, i jeśli tak to w jaki sposób.

For over thirty years, the Erasmus program has enabled students from European universities to take part in an exchange with a university from abroad. A trip to another country brings many benefits to students - improving the knowledge of the current language, the possibility of making new acquaintances, learning independence or improving competences and professional qualifications. The activity of the Erasmus program is also significantly related to the phenomenon of European integration and Europeanization. Europeanization is a relatively new concept, but more and more frequently researched and described. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to explain the theory of Europeanization and the mechanisms of its operation in the field of higher education and citizenship and the sense of belonging to the European Union. In addition, the work describes the history and circumstances of the creation of the Erasmus program, its evolution over the years and the current principles of its operation. At the end, there is an analysis of a survey conducted among Polish students who participated in the Erasmus program. In the survey, they assess their stay abroad and provide answers about their motivation to go abroad. They also assess the overall institutional activities of the European Union and their attitude towards the organization, both before and after leaving, and if it has changed, explain why. The analysis of students' opinions allows us to answer the main question, decided at the beginning of the work - whether the Erasmus program influences the bottom-up Europeanization, and if so, how.
