Polish and Soviet Union relations in 1939-1943.

Analiza stosunków polsko-radzieckich w latach 1939–1943, uwzględniająca prawdziwe cele władz ZSRR wobec państwa polskiego, a także ówczesne relacje międzynarodowe zwłaszcza w kontekście państw Wielkiej Trójki: ZSRR, USA i Wielkiej Brytanii. Praca składa się z trzech głównych rozdziałów. W pierwszym rozdziale omówione zostały stosunki polsko-radzieckie w latach 1939–1941, od ataku Armii Czerwonej na ziemie polskie i zerwania stosunków dyplomatycznych, do czasu podpisania układu Sikorski–Majski. Analizie podlegały następujące zagadnienia: główne cele inwazji zbrojnej, współpraca niemiecko–radziecka, inkorporacja ziem wschodnich do ZSRR, charakterystyka represji radzieckich skierowanych wobec narodu polskiego z uwzględnieniem trzech głównych grup osób represjonowanych (jeńcy wojenni, aresztowani oraz deportowani), a także zbrodnia katyńska. W rozdziale drugim opisane zostały stosunki polsko-radzieckie w latach 1941–1942, a więc od ponownego nawiązania stosunków dyplomatycznych pomiędzy rządem polskim na uchodźstwie a rządem radzieckim, do czasu wydarzeń z roku 1942, w tym m.in ewakuacji Armii Polskiej z ZSRR. W rozdziale tym zbadano głównie postanowienia układu Sikorski–Majski, a także związane z tym kwestie dotyczące organizacji Armii Polskiej w ZSRR. Trzeci rozdział opisuje wydarzenia 1943 roku, czyli odkrycie grobów katyńskich i związane z tym reperkusje w stosunkach polsko-radzieckich, jak też w obozie alianckim. W rozdziale tym omówiono ponadto sprawę polską na arenie międzynarodowej (konferencje w Teheranie i Jałcie), a także kwestie związane z ustanowieniem władzy komunistycznej w Polsce.

Analysis of the Polish-Soviet relations in 1939-1943, taking into account the real objectives of the authorities of the Soviet Union to the Polish state, as well as contemporary international relations especially in the context of the Big Three countries: USSR, USA and the UK. The work consists of three main chapters. The first chapter discusses the Polish-Soviet relations in the years 1939-1941, the Red Army attack on Polish soil and breaking of diplomatic relations, until the signing of the Sikorski-Maisky. Analysis subject to the following issues: the main targets of military invasion, the German-Soviet cooperation, incorporation of the eastern regions of the USSR, the characteristics of Soviet repression directed against the Polish nation, taking into account the three main groups of oppressed people (prisoners of war, arrested and deported), and the Katyn massacre. The second section describes the Polish-Soviet relations in 1941-1942, so the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the Polish government in exile and the Soviet Government, until the events of 1942, including evacuation of the Polish Army in USSR. This section examines predominantly the provisions of the Sikorski-Maisky, as well as related issues concerning the organization of the Polish Army in USSR. The third chapter describes the events of 1943, or the discovery of the Katyn graves and the consequent repercussions on Polish-Soviet relations, as well as in the Allied camp. This chapter also discusses the Polish cause in the international arena (conferences at Teheran and Yalta), as well as issues relating to the establishment of Communist rule in Poland.
