After the end of the Cold War, along with the end of the large-scale and high-intensity confrontation between global powers, the world temporarily entered a period of calm. But it appears to be ending. The competition between great powers seems to be awakening again, especially when China’s development makes China itself more and more prominent among all emerging countries. The relationship between the People's Republic of China and the United States of America is often described as the world’s most important bilateral relationship of the 21st century. The term “Great Power Competition” well describes the current status of the relationship between the two. The primary aim of the BA Thesis is to reveal the characteristics of Great Power Competition in the case of "China-U.S. Great Power Competition". The first chapter offers understandings of international relations, the theories and the Great Power Competition. The second chapter examines the history of China-U.S. relations. Finally, the third chapter aims at addressing the situation of the contemporary China-U.S. Great Power Competition.
