An interdisciplinary therapeutic team in the light of the current challenges of the health care system in Poland. Assessment of openness to cooperation in therapeutic teams students of selected medical faculties

Toczące się globalnie zmiany demograficzno-epidemiologiczne stawiają przed systemem ochrony zdrowia wiele wyzwań. Do kluczowych z nich zaliczyć można wzrost problemów zdrowotnych ludności wynikający z wydłużającego się czasu życia oraz starzejącego się społeczeństwa, a także problemy kadrowe polskiego systemu ochrony zdrowia. Zagadnienia te wymagają istotnych zmian systemowych, które pozwoliłyby na wzrost dostępności możliwych terapii, poprawę ich efektywności, a także poprawę sytuacji pracowników systemu ochrony zdrowia w Polsce. Niniejsza praca przedstawia kluczowe pojęcia dotyczące współpracy interdyscyplinarnej pracowników systemu ochrony zdrowia, dowody korzyści wynikających z współpracy w zespołach terapeutycznych dla pacjenta w odniesieniu do obecnej sytuacji ochrony zdrowia w Polsce oraz ocenę chęci współpracy studentów reprezentujących wybrane zawody medyczne i ich doświadczenia związane z obecnymi warunkami współpracy medyków w obszarze ochrony zdrowia. Analiza wyników autorskiej ankiety wśród studentów wybranych kierunków medycznych Collegium Medicum Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego pozwala stwierdzić widoczną potrzebę wdrożenia na etapie kształcenia przyszłych kadr ochrony zdrowia zajęć dla mieszanych grup przedstawicieli różnych zawodów medycznych pozwalających na interdyscyplinarne zdobywanie wiedzy z zakresu opieki nad pacjentem, właściwej komunikacji zespołowej oraz pogłębiania wiedzy studentów na temat swojej roli w zespole i budowania wzajemnego szacunku.

The global demographic and epidemiological changes pose many challenges for the health care system. The key ones include the increase in health problems of the population resulting from the prolonged life expectancy and the aging of the society, as well as the staffing problems of the Polish health care system. These issues require significant systemic changes that would allow for an increase in the availability of possible therapies, improvement of their effectiveness, and improvement of the situation of health care system employees in Poland.This paper presents the key concepts of interdisciplinary cooperation between healthcare system employees, evidence of the benefits of cooperation in therapeutic teams for the patient in relation to the current health care situation in Poland, and an assessment of the willingness to cooperate among students representing selected medical professions and their experiences related to the current conditions of cooperation between doctors in the area of health protection.The analysis the results of the survey research among students of selected medical faculties of Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University allows to state a great need to implement, at the stage of educating future health care staff, classes for mixed groups of representatives of various medical professions, allowing for interdisciplinary acquisition of knowledge in the field of patient care, proper team communication and deepening knowledge students about their role in the team and building mutual respect.
