'The Post-Brexit Special Relationship Between the United States and the United Kingdom

W niniejszej pracy zbadano szczególne relacje Wielkiej Brytanii i Stanów Zjednoczonych po Brexicie – wystąpieniu Wielkiej Brytanii z Unii Europejskiej w 2020 r., po ogólnokrajowym referendum w 2016 r. Tematyka jest ściśle powiązana z dyscypliną naukową, jaką są stosunki międzynarodowe. Hipotezy badawcze były takie, że: a) proces i zjawisko Brexitu nie przyczyniły się w istotny sposób do zmiany charakteru szczególnych relacji między Stanami Zjednoczonymi a Wielką Brytanią ani ich nie podważyły, b) istnieje zjawisko wzmocnionej i niezwykłej więzi między tymi dwoma krajami. Z rozważań wynika, że ​​szczególna relacja jest nadal kultywowana pomiędzy obydwoma krajami, jednak trudno określić jej siłę, gdyż wykazuje ona tendencję do wahań. Z badanego materiału wynika także, że Brexit nie przyczynił się w znaczący sposób do rozpadu unii obu krajów. Obydwa podmioty obawiały się konsekwencji, jednak stosunki przetrwały kolejne załamanie w historii stosunków międzynarodowych USA–Wielka Brytania.

The present thesis examined the special relationship between the UK and the US after Brexit - Great Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union in 2020, following a national referendum in 2016. The subject is closely related to the academic discipline of international relations. The research hypotheses were that: a) the process and phenomenon of Brexit did not contribute significantly to changing the nature of the special relationship between the United States and Great Britain nor did it undermine it, b) there exists a phenomenon of a strengthened and unusual bond between these two countries. The study found that the special relationship is still being cultivated by the two countries, but it is difficult to determine its strength, as it has a tendency to fluctuate. The examined material also showcased that Brexit did not contribute gravely to the disintegration of the union of the two countries. Both entities feared its consequences, yet the relationship survived another hiccup in the history of the US-UK international relations.
