The concept of embodiment in Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s "Phenomenology of Perception"

Praca poświęcona jest koncepcji ciała własnego przedstawionego w „Fenomenologii percepcji” Maurice’a Merleau-Ponty’ego. Przedstawia, w jaki sposób podmiot cielesny ujmuje świat w percepcji, która stanowi jego najbardziej źródłowe i pierwotne doznawanie. Kolejne rozdziały charakteryzują ciało własne w opozycji do rzeczy i przedstawiają ciało ze względu na jego motoryczność, przestrzenność oraz ekspresyjnośćdzięki swojej seksualności i mowie.

The thesis is devoted to the concept of one’s own body, proposed in the Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s ‘Phenomenology of Perception.’ At first it is shown how the physical body grasps the world in perception, which is the most primary source of experiencing. The following sections characterize one’s own body in opposition to things and present the body in the aspects of motility, spaciousness and expressivness – the last one through the phenomenons of sexuality and speech.
