Socio-political situation in Cuba from the perspective of 21st century reforms

W pracy pt. Sytuacja społeczno-polityczna na Kubie w kontekście reform początku XXI-ego wieku przeanalizowałam reformy jakie w ostatnich latach wprowadzone zostały na Kubie. Tematem pracy jest analiza reform, ich geneza oraz umieszczenie w szerszym kontekście społeczno-politycznym i gospodarczym.Problem historii kraju omówiony jest w pierwszym rozdziale niniejszej pracy. Refleksja nad przeszłością wyspy pozwala zrozumieć w jakim stopniu zależna była ona najpierw od Korony Hiszpanii, następnie od Stanów Zjednoczonych, potem od Związku Radzieckiego. Okres politycznej i gospodarczej dominacji Stanów Zjednoczonych leży u genezy rewolucji, zaś jej przebieg i skutki są wręcz kluczowe, aby zrozumieć współczesne problemy z jakimi boryka się Kuba. Polityce wewnętrznej i zagranicznej poświęcony jest rozdział drugi. Przeanalizowanie między innymi sytuacji gospodarczej, podstaw systemu prawnego i praw człowieka na Kubie daje możliwość popatrzenia na aktualną sytuację kraju z szerszej perspektywy. Poruszone zostały także stosunki Kuby z innymi krajami kontynentu i świata. W rozdziale trzecim znajdziemy uporządkowane pod kątem tematycznym reformy, wprowadzone z inicjatywy Raúla Castro. Wyszczególnionych jest kilka typów zmian: liberalizacja rynku pracy, handlu i prawa migracyjnego, reforma rolna, otwarcie na kapitał zagraniczny, zmiany w systemie edukacji, relacjach ze Stanami Zjednoczonymi, ograniczenie biurokracji. W zakończeniu przedstawione zostaną końcowe wnioski płynące z dokonanej analizy we wszystkich trzech rozdziałach.

In paper Socio-political situation in Cuba in the context of the reforms at the beginning of the twenty-first century I analyzed the reforms introduced in Cuba in recent years. Subject of this paper is to analyze the reforms, their origin and place in the broader context of socio-political and economic life.The country's history is discussed in the first chapter of this work. Reflecting on the past of the island allows us to understand the extent to which it depended initially on the Crown of Spain, then on the United States and finally on the Soviet Union. The period of political and economic dominance of the United States lies at the basis of the revolution, meanwhile its course and effects are quite essential to understand the contemporary problems faced by Cuba.The second chapter is devoted to domestic and foreign policy. Analysis of the economic situation, the the legal system basis and human rights in Cuba gives us the opportunity to look at the current situation of the country from a broader perspective. I also mentioned Cuba's relations with other countries of the continent and the world.In third chapter we find structured in thematic order reforms introduced by Raul Castro. It contains listed several types of change: liberalization of the labor market, trade and migration laws, land reform, opening up to foreign capital, changes in the education system, relations with the United States, reducing bureaucracy. In the summation I will present the final conclusions of the analysis made in all three sections.
