Animals as characters in Japanese fairy tales

W baśniach często pojawiają się postacie zwierząt. Nadaje im się nieraz ludzkie cechy i mogą rozmawiać z ludźmi, czy posiadać nasze motywy postępowania. Jednak to jak przedstawia się dane zwierzę może się bardzo różnić w zależności od kultury. W baśniach japońskich obraz poszczególnych postaci zwierzęcych może być inny od wyobrażeń o nich chociażby w Polsce. W poniższym opracowaniu przebadanych zostanie kilkanaście wybranych tekstów baśni japońskich, w których występują postacie zwierząt. Wskażę na przykładach wybranych przeze mnie zwierząt jakie cechy charakteru i zdolności są im przypisywane oraz jakie role i funkcje pełnią.

Animal characters often appear in fairy tales. They are often endowed with human characteristics and can talk to people or have our motives. However, how an animal is represented can vary greatly from culture to culture. In Japanese fairy tales, the image of individual animal characters may be different from the images of them, for example in Poland. In the following study, I will examine a dozen or so selected texts of Japanese fairy tales in which there are animal figures. On the examples of animals selected by me, I will indicate what character traits and abilities are ascribed to them and what roles and functions they perform.
