Stereotactic radiosurgery with CyberKnife in non-small cell lung cancer treatment

Rak niedrobnokomórkowy płuca jest nowotworem, który charakteryzuje się największym odsetkiem zachorowań i zejść śmiertelnych spośród pozostałych. Jest także chorobą, posiadającą niewielki odsetek wyleczeń. Ostatnie lata przyniosły znaczący postęp na polu leczenia chorób nowotworowych. Wynaleziona w 1951 roku radiochirurgia stereotaktyczna dała podstawy dla skonstruowania i wprowadzenia przez John’a Adler’a technologii CyberKnife. Radiochirurgia stereotaktyczna, a w szczególności urządzenie CyberKnife wydaje się być nadzieją dla wielu chorych dotkniętych tą jednostką chorobową. Celem pracy było zapoznanie z jedną z nowych metod radiochirurgicznych – nożem cybernetycznym i jego zastosowaniem w leczeniu raka niedrobnokomórkowego płuca.

In comparison to the others cancers, non-small cell lung cancer is one with the greatest morbidity and death rates, but what is more important, is still disease with very small cure rate. Last few years brought significant progress on field of cancer treatment. Stereotactic radiosurgery, invented in 1951 gave rise to construction and introduction by John Adler CyberKnife technology. Stereotactic radiosurgery, espacially CyberKnife device, seems to be hope for many patients suffering from the lung cancer. The aim of this study was to acquaint one of the new radiosurgery methods - cyber knife and its use in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer.
