Turanism in political and cultural context in Hungary

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie zjawiska turanizmu węgierskiego oraz zbadanie, czy i w jakim stopniu wpływa on na dzisiejszą prawicę na Węgrzech. Na podstawie źródeł została omówiona historia powstania tej teorii, począwszy od płaszczyzny językoznawczej i prowadzonej na niej badań pod kątem pokrewieństwa języka węgierskiego z językami azjatyckimi, aż do wpływu na politykę Węgier w I połowie XX wieku. Na przykładzie wybranych ugrupowań uznawanych za radykalnie prawicow został zbadane elementy w ich działaniu, mogące świadczyć o wpływie turanizmu na ich ideologię . Pod kątem wpływu tej teorii zbadano także współczesną politykę Węgier, zwłaszcza orientację polityki zagranicznej. Na wybranych przykładach został przedstawiony także wpływ turanizmu na kulturę węgierską (m.in teksty zespołów grających węgierski rock narodowy) oraz jak wykorzystują ten fakt współcześni zwolennicy teorii o pokrewieństwie Węgrów i Hunów.

The aim of the work is to present the phenomenon of Hungarian Turanism and to examine whether and to what extent it affects today's right wing in Hungary. On the basis of sources, the history of this theory was discussed, starting from the linguistic plane and research conducted on it from the angle of Hungarian language to Asian languages, to the impact on Hungary's policy in the first half of the 20th century. On the example of selected groups considered as radical right-wing, elements in their actions have been examined, which may indicate the influence of Turanism on their ideology. In terms of the impact of this theory, the contemporary policy of Hungary was also examined, especially the orientation of foreign policy. The selected examples also show the impact of Turanism on Hungarian culture (including some lyrics of the bands playing Hungarian national rock) and how contemporary supporters of the theory about kinship of Hungarians and Huns take advantage of this fact.
