Texts publishing in Silesian language. Typographical and linguistic aspects

Język śląski, a właściwie problem jego standaryzacji i kodyfikacji, to popularny temat w ostatnich latach. Problem określenia jego statusu, a także wyboru odpowiedniej terminologii służącej nazewnictwu tej gwary, dialektu czy też etnolektu, to zagadnienia, które zostały poddane analizie. Głównym założeniem tejże pracy jest przedstawienie rozwoju języka śląskiego ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wykorzystania go w literaturze, mediach elektronicznych i przestrzeni publicznej. Aby zrozumieć specyfikę śląskiej mowy w jej obecnym kształcie, za punkt wyjścia wybrano omówienie historii śląskiego regionu i jego mieszkańców. Skupiono się także na zagadnieniu śląskiej tożsamości, która przekłada się na silne przywiązanie Ślązaków do ich rodzimej mowy i chęć jej pielęgnowania. Wyjaśniono także problem związany z terminologią służącą do określania śląszczyzny oraz omówiono kwestię prób jej kodyfikacji i starań o uzyskanie dla niej statusu języka regionalnego. Przegląd tekstów wydanych w języku śląskim poprzedzono analizą wstępnych zasad pisowni śląskiej zaproponowanych w 2009 roku. Przyjrzano się także tendencji rosnącej liczby książek publikowanych po śląsku, przekładającej się na jakościową zmianę śląszczyzny, dotychczas kojarzonej z tradycją oralną, folklorystyczną, ludową.

The Silesian language, or rather the problem of its standardization and codification, has been a popular topic in recent years. The problem of determining its status, as well as the choice of the appropriate terminology for naming this dialect or ethnolect, are the issues that have been analyzed. The main assumption of this work is to present the development of the Silesian language with particular emphasis on its use in literature, electronic media and public space. In order to understand the specificity of Silesian speech in its present form, the starting point was the discussion of the history of Silesia and its inhabitants. It also focuses on the issue of Silesian identity, which is associated with strong attachment of Silesian people to their native speech and a desire to cultivate it. The problem related to the terminology used to describe the Silesian region was also explained and the issue of attempts at its codification and efforts to obtain the status of a regional language was discussed. The review of texts published in the Silesian language was preceded by an analysis of the preliminary rules of Silesian spelling proposed in 2009. A tendency of growing number of books published in Silesian was also examined, which is reflected in a qualitative change in Silesian language, so far associated with oral and folk traditions.
