Niniejsza praca analizuje postaci wampirycznych czarnych charakterów utworach Wampir Johna Williama Polidoriego oraz Dracula Brama Stokera. Pierwszy rozdział przedstawia kontekst, z którego wyłoniły się postaci Lorda Ruthvena i Hrabiego Draculi, biorąc pod uwagę zarówno ich historyczne jak i literackie tło. W drugim rozdziale dokonano kompleksowego porównania obu postaci, przyglądając się ich różnym portretom jako wampirycznych czarnych charakterów. Przeprowadzona analiza dotyczy ich wyglądu, zachowania, motywacji i mocy, ujawniając zarówno podobieństwa, jak i znaczące różnice. Trzeci rozdział podkreśla elementy gotyckiego horroru obecne w twórczości Polidoriego i Stokera, takie jak nadprzyrodzone zjawiska i pełne napięcia techniki narracyjne. Praca ta rzuca światło na trwałe zainteresowanie oraz wpływ wampirycznych postaci o czarnym charakterze na literaturę.

This thesis examines the vampire villains in John William Polidori's The Vampyre and Bram Stoker's Dracula. The first chapter establishes the backdrop against which Lord Ruthven and Count Dracula emerged by exploring their historical and literary context. In the second chapter, a comprehensive comparison is made between Lord Ruthven and Count Dracula, delving into their distinct portrayals as vampire villains. The analysis explores their appearances, behaviours, motives, and powers, revealing shared traits and notable differences. The third chapter highlights the Gothic horror elements employed by Polidori and Stoker, such as supernatural phenomena and suspenseful storytelling techniques. This study sheds light on the enduring allure and impact of vampire villains in literature through meticulous analysis.
