European Union Policy on Illegal Immigration

Masowy napływ nielegalnych imigrantów na terytorium Unii Europejskiej w ostatnich latach znacznie się nasilił i tym samym stanowi jedno z największych wyzwań dla jej polityki. Wypracowanie rozwiązań, które pozwoli na odnalezienie równowagi pomiędzy poszanowaniem praw jednostek, a jednoczesne zmniejszanie ilości imigrantów przybywających na terytoria państw europejskich stanowi trudne zadanie dla organów UE. Praca, bazując na raportach odpowiednich instytucji, charakteryzuje wspomniane zjawisko, jego rozmiary oraz uwarunkowania. Opisano historię ewolucji unijnej polityki migracyjnej. Dokonano analizy zmian w prawie pierwotnym i przedstawiono wtórne źródła prawa, dążące do rozwiązania problemu nielegalnych migracji. W niniejszej pracy opisano również instytucje (i ich działania) a także systemy elektroniczne powołane w celu opanowania obecnego kryzysu uchodźczego w Europie.

The massive influx of illegal immigrants into the European Union, has grown rapidly in recent years and thus constitutes one of the greatest challenges of its policies. Developing solutions that will allow to find a perfect balance between respecting the rights of individuals, and at the same time, reducing the amount of immigrants seeking shelter in territories of European countries is doubtlessly a difficult task for EU bodies. This thesis, based on the reports of relevant institutions, describes the irregular migration, its size and causes. It presents the history of the evolution of the EU migration policy. The analysis of changes in the primary and secondary sources of law is discussed. This thesis also defines the institutions (and their undertaken actions to solve the problem of illegal migrations) as well as electronic systems implemented to control the current refugee crisis in Europe.
