ECO-CITY example of Kraków

Pod pojęciem ekomiasta rozumiano miasto ekologiczne działające zgodnie z koncepcją zrównoważonego rozwoju. Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie działań proekologicznych w zakresie poprawy klimatu w mieście. Na wstępie opisano niekorzystne cechy klimatu miasta w aspekcie globalnego ocieplenia na przykładzie danych klimatologicznych z Krakowa. Zwrócono uwagę na zróżnicowanie przestrzenne warunków klimatycznych w zależności od zagospodarowania terenu. Przedstawiono sposoby poprawy warunków aerosanitarnych i adaptacji miasta do zmian klimatu. Wykazano, że działania proekologiczne podejmowane w Krakowie dają podstawę do stwierdzenia, że Kraków już wkrótce może stać się przykładem ekomiasta, a także wzorem dla innych miast w Polsce.

The term eco-city stands for an ecological city, operating in accordance with the concept of sustainable development. The aim of the study is to present pro-ecological activities in the field of improving the climate in the city. At the beginning, unfavorable characteristics of the city’s climate in the aspect of global warming are described on the example of climatological data from Kraków. Attention was paid to the spatial diversity of climatic conditions depending on the land development. Ways to improve aerosanitary conditions and adaptation of the city to climate change were presented. It has been shown that pro-ecological activities undertaken in Kraków provide the basis for the statement that Kraków may soon become an example of an eco-city, as well as a model for other cities in Poland.
