The semantic difference between the Spanish verbs querer and amar.

Celem niniejszej pracy jest określenie różnicy semantycznej hiszpańskich czasowników querer i amar. Tekst, bazując na teorii synonimii, skupia się na sprawdzeniu czy ich znaczenie jest na tyle bliskie, że można badane wyrazy uznać za synonimiczne. Jednocześnie opisuje się zmiany, jakie zaszły w pojmowaniu konceptu miłości od czasów starożytnej greki. W najważniejszej części pracy podejmuje się próbę analizy znaczeń amar oraz querer opierając się na definicjach słownikowych oraz wynikach badań ankiety przeprowadzonej na ten temat w Hiszpanii.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the semantic difference of the verbs querer and amar in Peninsular Spanish. This investigation, based on theories of synonymy, focuses on trying to establish if meanings of those two words are similar enough to call them synonyms. At the same time, this paper will show how the perception of the concept of love has changed since the ancient Greek. In the last part, meanings of amar and querer are being analysed on the basis of dictionary definitions and the results of a questionnaire conducted in Spain.

El objetivo de este estudio es investigar la diferencia entre los verbos querer y amar desde el punto de vista semántico en el castellano peninsular. Nuestra propuesta, en base de las teorías de la sinonimia, se enfoca en averiguar si el significado de los dos verbos es suficiente similar para denominarlos sinónimos. Al mismo tiempo llamamos la atención al cambio de percebir el concepto de amor desde el antiguo griego hasta el español moderno. En la última parte analizamos las acepciones de amar y querer en apoyo a definiciones sacadas de los diccionarios y los resultados de la encuesta realizada por nosotras en España.
