Fairytale Shoes - Symbolism of the Shoes in the Literature

Buty stanowią nie tylko istotny element stroju, ale także niosą ze sobą wiele znaczeń, które wrosły w tradycję kulturową. Przejawia się to między innymi w bardzo bogatej symbolice, zwrotach, wyrażeniach językowych i przysłowiach. Różnorodna symbolika motywu butów przejawia się także w sztuce oraz literaturze. Znaczenia tejże symboliki są niewątpliwie warte opisania. Rozprawa podzielona jest na pięć rozdziałów, które zostały pogrupowane w tematycznie pokrewne grupy (buty jako przedmioty magiczne; wymierzające karę grzesznikom; zakładane na niebezpieczną podróż; buty w literaturze nie tylko baśniowej) . Głównym celem niniejszej pracy jest: zaprezentowanie różnorodnej symboliki butów w literaturze - głównie baśniowej - na wybranych przykładach spośród baśni rodzimych, a także klasyków gatunku, jak Charles Perrault, bracia Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen; gruntowna analiza utworów, które zawierają ten motyw ("Kopciuszek", "Kot w butach", "Paluszek", "Goliszowe buty", "Kalosze szczęścia", "Jan Tajemnik", "Czerwone buciki", "Królowa Śniegu", "Żelazne trzewiczki", "Sklepy cynamonowe", "Trupięgi"); oraz w konkluzji wyciągnięcie wniosków i podsumowanie tejże analizy.

Shoes are not only important item of clothing, but they also carry a variety of meanings that were rooted in cultural tradition. This is reflected, inter alia, in a very rich symbolism, phrases, expressions and proverbs language. A variety of symbols theme of shoes is also manifested in art and literature. The importance of that symbolism is undoubtedly worth describing. The dissertation is divided into five chapters, which are grouped in thematically related groups (shoes as magic items; taking vengeance on sinners; founded on a dangerous journey; shoes in the literature not only fairytales). The main objective of this study is: to present the diverse symbolism of shoes in the literature - mainly fairytales - selected examples of native tales, as well as classics of the genre, such as Charles Perrault, Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, a thorough analysis of titles that contain the motif ("Cinderella "," Puss in Boots "," Paluszek "," Goliszowe buty"," Boots of happiness "," Jan Tajemnik ","Red shoes "," The Snow Queen ","Żelazne trzewiczki","Sklepy cynamonowe"," Trupięgi "), and finally to draw conclusions and a summary of this analysis.
