W pracy opisano najważniejsze z punktu widzenia autora definicje, które doprowadziły do obecnego stanu badań nad poziomem i jakością życia. Analiza obszaru oraz wyniki zebranych podczas badań ankiet pozwoliły określić poziom i jakość życia w Trójmieście oraz w miastach wchodzących w jego skład. Poziom życia w Trójmieście był niższy niż jakość. Pośród wszystkich miast Trójmiasta to Gdynia wyróżniała się najwyższą zarówno jakością jak i poziomem życia. Respondenci z Sopotu posiadali najniższy poziom życia, jednak jakość ich życia była wyższa niż mieszkańców Gdańska. Gdańszczanie natomiast wyróżnili się podobnym do Gdyni poziomem życia, jednakże jego jakość była najniższa w całym Trójmieście. Respondenci odczuwali największe zadowolenie z dzieci, a najmniejsze z działalności władz państwowych i samorządowych.

The work describes the most important definitions according to the author, which led to the current state of research on the level and quality of life. The analysis of the area and the results of the surveys collected during the surveys allowed to determine the level and quality of life in the Tricity and in the cities that make up it. The standard of living in the Tricity was lower than the quality. Among all the cities of the Tricity, Gdynia was distinguished by its highest quality and standard of living. Respondents from Sopot had the lowest standard of living, but their quality of life was higher than that of the inhabitants of Gdańsk. In Gdansk, on the other hand, people distinguished themselves with a similar living standard to Gdynia, but its quality was the lowest in the whole Tricity. Respondents felt the greatest satisfaction with children, and the smallest from the activities of state and local authorities.
