Digital waste in higher education institutions

Celem rozdziału jest stworzenie modelu koncepcyjnego do badania marnotrawstwa cyfrowego w szkołach wyższych. Celami szczegółowymi są: rozpoznanie kategorii digital waste oraz usystematyzowanie wiedzy na ten temat w odniesieniu do szkół wyższych. W pracy postawiono następujące pytanie badawcze: w jaki sposób jest definiowane marnotrawstwo cyfrowe, jakie są jego źródła i jakie rekomendacje są formułowane w zakresie eliminacji digital waste w szkołach wyższych. Przeprowadzone badania wskazują, że digital waste jest zjawiskiem złożonym, niejednoznacznie definiowanym w literaturze przedmiotu, a istniejące badania odnoszą się przede wszystkim do produkcji i biznesu. Brakuje badań nad cyfrowym marnotrawstwem w szkołach wyższych. Dlatego zaproponowana w opracowaniu systematyka może stać się ramą teoretyczną do przyszłych badań.

This chapter aims to create a conceptual model for studying digital waste in higher education. The specific objectives are to identify digital waste categories and systematise knowledge on this topic concerning higher education institutions. The following research question was posed: How is digital waste defined, what are its sources, and what recommendations are formulated for eliminating digital waste in higher education institutions? The conducted research indicates that digital waste is a complex phenomenon, ambiguously defined in the literature, and existing research primarily relates to production and business. There is a lack of research on digital waste in higher education institutions. Therefore, the systematics proposed in this study can become a theoretical framework for future research.
