Problematc similarites : on difficultes the Ukrainians have in learning Polish

W artykule rozważa się kwestię podobieństwa języka ukraińskiego i polskiego w kontekście uczenia się i akwizycji języka polskiego jako obcego przez studentów ukraińskojęzycznych mieszkających w Polsce. Zbieżności językowe i ich skutek - interkomprehensja dają na starcie studentom z Ukrainy dużą przewagę w stosunku do niesłowiańskich studentów uczących się polszczyzny. Jednakże te same podobieństwa są także źródłem trudności Ukraińców w nauce języka polskiego. Trudność ta to przede wszystkim wysoka liczebność błędów interlingwalnych o podłożu interferencyjnym. Omówienie ich w trzech grupach pozwala na zauważenie odrębnego charakteru każdej z nich. Część błędów identyfikuje pochodzenie nadawcy, część utrudnia komunikację, a niektóre z nich - szczególnie głęboko zakorzenione konstrukcje związane z pierwotną kategoryzacją rzeczywistości - są niezwykle trudne w eliminacji. Wszystkie te błędy wymagają wzmożonej i celowej pracy nad ich niwelowaniem w procesie nauczania przy użyciu technik translacyjnych.

In the article, the question of similarities between Ukrainian and Polish language in the context of learning and acquisition of Polish as a foreign language by Ukrainian students living in Poland is discussed. At first linguistic convergence and its result - intercomprehension provide the Ukrainian students with a considerable advantage in comparison to nonSlavic students learning Polish. Nonetheless, the same similarities are also the source of the Ukrainians’ difficulties in learning Polish. The said difficulty is first of all a large number of interlingual errors caused by interference. Discussing them in three groups has allowed for noticing a distinct character of each of them. Some of the errors identify the origin of the sender, the other hinder communication, whereas part of them - particularly solidified structures connected with primal categorization of reality - are very difficult to eliminate. All these errors require increased and deliberate efforts to eradicate them in the process of learning in which translation methods are used.
