Reason in relation to the hidden God. A comparison of the views of B. Pascal and S. Kierkegaard.

Zagadnienie Boga ukrytego, rozważane jako problem egzystencjalny, zostało zbadane z perspektywy roli rozumu w poglądach B. Pascala i S. Kierkegaarda. W toku rozważań, opartych na sprawozdawczej i porównawczej analizie literatury, przedstawiono podobieństwa dostrzegalne w twórczości rzeczonych filozofów, wyrażające się w opozycyjności do współczesnych im prądów filozoficznych, dążeniu rozumu do przekroczenia samego siebie i sfery skończoności oraz ograniczeniu poznawczej roli rozumu w kwestii zagadnienia wiary.Wyróżniona dystynkcja polegała na sposobach argumentacji za ograniczeniem roli rozumu w kwestii wiary, gdzie u Pascala część argumentów miała charakter pragmatyczny, a u Kierkegaarda przede wszystkim ontologiczny.

The problem of the hidden God, considered as an existential issue, has been examined from the perspective of the role of reason in the thought of B. Pascal and S. Kierkegaard. In the course of the study, based on descriptive and comparative analysis, similarities were identified in the works of the mentioned philosophers, expressed in their opposition to contemporary philosophical doctrines, the tendency of reason to transcend itself and the finite realm and the limitation of its cognitive role with regard to the issue of faith. The key distinction lay in the ways of arguing for the limitation of the role of reason in matters of faith, with Pascal presenting partly pragmatic arguments and Kierkegaard expressing primarily ontological ones.
