Shinto and Japanese Buddhism in context of the idea of syncretism and its manifestations in everyday life of the contemporary Japanese people

Szintoizm i buddyzm to dwie główne religie w Japonii. Kulty te mają przemożny wpływ na życie codzienne Japończyków, jak i na ich mentalność. Oba wyznania uzupełniają się wzajemnie i posiadają długą tradycję współistnienia, zwaną synkretyzmem szinto i buddyzmu lub shinbutsu- shuugou. Synkretyzm manifestuje się w codziennej rutynie Japończyków poprzez rytuały i modlitwę.

Shinto and Buddhism are the two major religions of Japan. These cults have a tremendous impact on everyday lives of the contemporary Japanese people as well as on their mentality. Both creeds supplement each other and have long tradition of coexsistence called Shinto- Buddhism syncretism or shinbutsu- shuugou. Syncretism manifests itself in the daily routine of the Japanese people through rites and prayers.
