Piractwo treści naukowych w zachowaniach informacyjnych doktorantów na uczelniach badawczych: studium przypadku

licenciate
The goal set by the author in the work is to study the sources of access to scientific texts by doctoral students of Cracow research universities with special attention to illegal means of access. In the work, the author mainly focuses on examining to what extent they are used in their information behavior, what are the motivations for their use, how important they are in their scientific work, and examines their social perception in terms of moral and legal use. The study lasted from April 24 to May 14, 2024, and was carried out using the case study method; a structured questionnaire consisting of 15 questions was used as a tool for collecting empirical data. The questionnaire form was distributed to Doctoral Schools at the Jagiellonian University and then delivered to doctoral students at the selected research university. Eighty-six responses were obtained from the two doctoral schools. The survey showed that pirated sources of scientific texts do not displace legal ones, but rather coexist with them. They are used because of the lack of legal access to the desired content, the simplicity and convenience of use, and the highest efficiency in finding the desired text. The results indicate a significant difference between perceptions of legality and personal sense of morality during the act of using pirated sources, and they are most likely to use sites that offer their content in legal free access.pl
