article
Through the analysis of fragments of Lejbe i Siora by Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz, Faust by Johann Wolfgang Goethe and 72 Letters by Ted Chiang, the author presents similarities and differences between three representations of the homunculus in literature. In the initial part of the article the similarities and differences between the literary images of the golem and the homunculus are also examined. The main issues of concern are: the desire to create an artificial man, woman's place in this process, and the question of humanity; can the creature of human shape, but made in the laboratory, be called human?pl
