Possibilities of using the diary method for checking the progress of remote working

Z dokonanego przeglądu literatury wynika, że metoda dzienniczkowa (ang. diary method) jest stosowana w naukach o zarządzaniu bardzo rzadko. Z dotychczasowych doświadczeń wynika, że wykorzystywali ją głównie specjaliści z zakresu zarządzania zasobami ludzkimi, zachowań organizacyjnych i marketingu. Autor jest przekonany, że ze względu na jej walory poznawcze (badanie emocji, postaw, nastrojów) może być ona szerzej stosowana. Za takim przekonaniem kryje się nie tylko wiedza dotycząca aktualnych możliwości jej wykorzystania, ale również dokonujące się na naszych oczach zmiany organizacyjne (upowszechnianie się pracy domowej). Na podstawie przeglądu literatury, a szczególne opisu zastosowanych metodologii autor wskazuje na silne i słabe strony tej metody i szkicuje przyszłościowe kierunki badań.

The conducted literature review indicates that the diary method is very rarely used in management and quality sciences. The experience gained so far shows that it is used mainly by human resources, organizational behaviour, and marketing specialists. The author is convinced that in view of its cognitive advantages (examination of emotions, attitudes, and moods), the diary method can be applied on a wider scale. This conviction is supported not only by the author's knowledge of the current potential for this method's application, but also the topical organizational changes taking place in the form of remote working in the past months. Based on the performed literature review and particulary the description of the methodologies used, the author highlights the strengths and weaknesses of the diary method and suggests directions of further research on this subject.
