Abstract in English

The concept of love in the Thomas’ "Romance of Tristan" is examined here in the light of Mediaeval analogical thought with its two poles: spiritus and caro. This perspective allows to resolve the long-debated question concerning Thomas, which could be summarized as “courtly or not”. In fact, by transposing the religious model in the secular literature, Thomas seems to glorify a courtly, highly spiritualized love ideal, albeit confronted with the protagonists’ incapacity to grow up to it.
