Life is poetry. Fantasies in Polish and German poetry of the November Uprising

Praca przedstawia wspólne fantazmaty polskiej poezji powstania listopadowego i niemieckich „Polenlieder” (pieśni o Polsce). Przez tytułową formułę „życie poezją” - zaczerpniętą ze sławnej przedmowy Maurycego Mochnackiego do rozprawy „O literaturze polskiej w wieku XIX” - rozumie autor sytuację egzystencjalną powstańców, których tożsamość i twórczość koncentruje się wokół kluczowych kategorii śmierci i zmartwychwstania. W aneksie znajdują się nieznane wiersze z okresu powstania, znalezione przez autora w bibliotece Litewskiego Archiwum Historycznego w Wilnie.

The dissertation presents common fantasies in Polish poetry of the November Uprising and German "Polenlieder" (songs about Poland). The formula "life is poetry" comes from the famous preface to “An Essay on the Polish literature in the 19th century" by Maurycy Mochnacki. It depicts an existential situation of the insurgents. Both their identity and literary work was focused on key categories of death and resurrection. In the appendix you can find some unknown insurgents' poems found by the author in the library of Historical Archive of Lithuania (Vilnius).
