STRESZCZENIEStaw kolanowy jest najczęstszym miejscem występowania choroby zwyrodnieniowej. Schorzenie to jest procesem patologicznym, dotykającym najistotniejszych struktur stawu kolanowego – chrząstki i powierzchni stawowej, kości, torebki stawowej, łąkotki. Chorobę zwyrodnieniową stawu kolanowego charakteryzuje ból i dysfunkcje kolana, w którym radiologicznie potwierdzono proces zwyrodnieniowy. Leczenie gonartrozy obejmuje leczenie zachowawcze i operacyjne. Metodą leczenia operacyjnego choroby zwyrodnieniowej stawu kolanowego jest endoprotezoplastyka . Polega ona na częściowej lub całkowitej wymianie uszkodzonego stawu . Celem zabiegu jest uwolnienie chorego od dokuczliwego bólu, przywrócenie czynności i stabilności stawu, uzyskanie trwałej rekonstrukcji stawu, a w efekcie poprawa jakości życia pacjenta. Endoprotezoplastyka stawu kolanowego należy do planowanych zabiegów chirurgicznych i wymaga odpowiedniego przygotowania przed i pooperacyjnego.
