A Category of Identity in the Selected Examples of Non-fiction and Fiction Literature

Poszczególne rozdziały pracy stanowią próbę rozpatrzenia problemu tożsamości w obliczu ważnych aspektów, mających wpływ na jej kształt. W pierwszym rozdziale zaprezentowane zostały uwagi ogólne, mające pełnić funkcję wprowadzenia do poszczególnych rozdziałów, zawierających interpretacje wybranych utworów. Następnie omówiona została kwestia przestrzeni (czasoprzstrzeni), na przykładzie Weisera Dawidka Pawła Hielle. Czyli w jaki sposób określone miejsce wraz z uwarunkowaniami historycznymi i społecznymi kształtuje tożsamość człowieka. W trzecim rozdziale poświęconym Pedro Paramo Juana Rulfa, rozpatrywano tożsamość w aspekcie postkolonialnym, jak objawia się w swoim pierwotnym wymiarze, jak konstytuuje w sytuacji styku różnych kultur. Ostatnim z poruszanych tu problemów jest postpamięć, czyli wpływ wojennej przeszłości na kształt tożsamości, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem międzypokoleniowego przekazu traumy, jako doświadczenia zapośredniczonego. Materiałem badawczym są tu powieść Żegnając umarłych. Pamiętnik rodzinny Lisy Appigenesi oraz komiksu Muse Arta Spiegelmana. Celem pracy jest zbadanie jak niektóre kierunki literackie w swojej poetyce sprawdzają się w wyrażaniu treści i problemów, związanych z tożsamością. A także jakie środki ku temu najlepiej służą.

Each chapter of the thesis are attempts to consider the problem of identity in the face of some important aspects which have an influence on its shape. Chapter One includes general observations which are su[pposed to perfrom a function of an introduction to particular chapters containing interpretations of selected literary works. Thereafter, the issue of space (space-time) is discussed, with Weiser Dawidek by Paweł Huelle as an example. Namely, how a particular place, alongside historical and social conditions, shapes human identity. Chapter Three, dedicated to Pedro Paramo by Juan Rulfo, considers the postcolonial aspect of identity was, how it manifests itself in its primary dimension, how it constitutes when different cultures meet. The last introduced problem is post-memory, which is an influence of the war past on the shape of identity, with particular focus on the intergenerational transfer of trauma as a mediated experience. The research material used is the novel Losing the Dead: A Family Memoir by Lisa Appignanesi and the comic book Muse by Art Spiegelman. The objective of the thesis is to examine how effective certain literary movements are in their poetics as far as expressing contents and problems related to identity is concerned, and also which devices serve it best.
