The theatre (drama) in Stefan Szuman's conception

Autor w niniejszym artykule (krótkim studium) ukazuje Stefana Szumana ogólną koncepcję teatru (dramatu). Profesor S. Szuman (1889-1972) był polskim uczonym w Uniwersytecie Jagiellońskim w Krakowie (1928-1960). Z wykształcenia był lekarzem, chirurgiem (doktorem medycyny, M. D., ukończył Uniwersytet w Monachium, Münich w 1914 r.), psychologiem i pedagogiem (doktorem filozofii, Ph. D., ukończył Uniwersytet Poznański w 1926 r.). Habilitował się z psychologii pedagogicznej w Uniwersytcie Poznańskim w 1928 roku. Profesor Szuman był także autor wielu artykułów i książek o literaturze i sztuce. Jednym z jego najlepszych przyjaciół w latach 1930-1939 był Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz (Witkacy). Autor niniejszego studium opisuje Szumanowską koncepcję teatru (dramatu), niezupełnie opartą na Witkacowskiej koncepcji teatru (dramatu). Szuman próbował ukazać ironię i czysty nonsens Witkacowskiej koncepcji teatru awangardowego.

The author in this article (a short study) presents Stefan Szuman’s general conception of theatre (drama). Professor S. Szuman (1889-1972) was a Polish scientist at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow (1928-1960). He was an educated physician, a surgeon (Doctor of Medicine Doctor, M. D., he graduated at the University in München, Münich, 1914), a psychologist and pedagogue (Philosophy Doctor. Ph. D., he graduated from Poznań University in 1926). He habilitated in pedagogical psychology at the University in Poznań in 1928 year. Professor Szuman was also an author of many articles and books about literature and art. Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz (Witkacy) was one of his best friends in the years 1930-1939. The author of this study describes the Szuman’s conception of theatre (drama) not quite based on Witkacy conception of theatre (drama). Szuman tried to show the irony and pure nonsense of Witkacy’s conception of the avant-garde theatre.
