Tłumaczenie elementów kulturowych: analiza angielskich i hiszpańskich napisów do polskiego serialu Ślepnąc od świateł

Celem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej jest analiza tłumaczenia elementów kulturowych w angielskich i hiszpańskich napisach do polskiego serialu Ślepnąc od świateł produkcji HBO Europe/Polska i The House Media Company. Serial powstał w 2018 roku w reżyserii Krzysztofa Skoniecznego na podstawie powieści Jakuba Żulczyka. W pierwszym rozdziale omówiono związek tłumaczenia i kultury, problem nieprzetłumaczalności kultury, a także przedstawiono definicję elementów kulturowych wraz ze strategiami i technikami ich tłumaczenia. Drugi rozdział poświęcono trzem głównym metodom tłumaczenia audiowizualnego: napisom, wersji lektorskiej i dubbingowi, oraz opisano ich cechy, wymagania techniczne, ograniczenia, wady i zalety. Trzeci rozdział zawiera analizę tłumaczenia elementów kulturowych w angielskiej oraz hiszpańskiej wersji napisów do serialu Ślepnąc od świateł. Tłumaczenie na język angielski jest autorstwa Zuzanny Kołodziejczyk, Michała Kwiatkowskiego oraz Piotra Strzeleckiego, natomiast napisy hiszpańskie są amatorskie i pochodzą ze strony internetowej https://my-subs.co/.

The aim of this thesis is to analyse the translation of culture-bound items from the English and Spanish subtitles to the Polish series Blinded by the Lights produced by HBO Europe/Polska and The House Media Company. The series was made in 2018 and directed by Krzysztof Skonieczny. It is based on the novel with the same title by Jakub Żulczyk. The first chapter discusses the relationship between translation and culture, the problem of cultural untranslatability, and provides a definition of culture references along with the strategies and techniques of their translation. The second chapter is devoted to the three main modes of audiovisual translation: subtitling, voiceover and dubbing, and outlines their features, technical requirements, limitations, and advantages and disadvantages. The third chapter analyses the translation of cultural elements in the English and Spanish subtitles of the series Blinded by the Lights. The English translation was created by Zuzanna Kołodziejczyk, Michał Kwiatkowski and Piotr Strzelecki, while the Spanish subtitles are amateur and taken from the website https://my-subs.co/.
