Greek and Roman mythologies for children and youth on the Polish publishing market in the 21st century

Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza wydań publikacji poświęconych mitologii greckiej i rzymskiej przeznaczonych dla dzieci i młodzieży, które ukazały się w XXI wieku. Zbadano kształt edytorski zbiorów mitów, biorąc pod uwagę aspekty literackie, graficzne i typograficzne. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono problemowi adekwatności wszystkich elementów omawianych wydań, zarówno pod kątem pełnionych przez nie funkcji, jak również dostosowania ich do młodego czytelnika oraz do treści książek. Starano się również prześledzić obecne na rynku tendencje wydawnicze. Dla uzupełnienia analizy wykorzystano różnorodne źródła: nie tylko publikacje mitologiczne z wieku ubiegłego, lecz także liczne źródła internetowe i opracowania o rozmaitej tematyce, poświęcone kulturze antycznej czy kwestiom edytorskim dotyczącymi książki dla dzieci i młodzieży.

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the editions of publications devoted to Greek and Roman mythology for children and youth, which appeared in the 21st century. The editorial shape of the collections of myths was examined, taking into account literary, graphic and typographic aspects. Particular attention was paid to the issue of adequacy of all elements of the issues in question, both in terms of their functions, as well as their adaptation to the young reader and the content of books. Efforts were also made to trace the current publishing trends. To complement the analysis, various sources were used: not only mythological publications from the previous century, but also numerous internet sources and studies on various topics, devoted to ancient culture or editorial issues concerning the book for children and youth.
