The Salem Witch Trials causes and outline the drama of 1692

Praca opisuje przyczyny procesów "czarownic" w Salem, Massachusetts, a także generalny zarys wydarzeń, które tam miały miejsce w 1692 roku. Pierwszy rozdział podejmuje refleksje na temat myśli purytańskiej, purytan w Ameryce, a także ich podejścia do "czarów" (przyczyny religijne procesów). Dzieło porusza również kwestię pozycji kobiet w Nowej Anglii. Drugi rozdział natomiast to historia Salem i sporów wewnątrz społeczności zamieszkującej tę osadę, a także przyczyny społeczno-polityczne procesów (m.in walka o wpływy pomiędzy bogatymi klanami - Putnamowie vs. Porterowie). Trzeci rozdział z kolei w pierwszej części porusza zagadnienie możliwych przyczyn medycznych tragedii w Salem, a w drugiej generalny przegląd procesów w omawianej osadzie.

This study describes the causes of witch trials in Salem, Massachusetts, and the general outline of events that took place there in 1692. The first chapter takes reflections on the thoughts of Puritan, Puritans in America, and their approach to "witchcraft" (the religious causes of trials). The work also addresses the position of women in New England. While the second chapter is the story of Salem and disputes within communities living in this village, as well as the socio-political causes of trials (e.g. power struggle between the rich clans - Putnams vs. Porters). The third chapter, in turn, in the first part raises the question of the possible medical causes of the tragedy in Salem, and the second part - general overview of the trials in this settlement.
