The “princely” burial from Jakuszowice (western Lesser Poland) and its importance for the interpretation of the ethnic situation and political circumstances between the Odra and Vistula rivers during the period of Hunnic domination

The grave assemblage from Jakuszowice found in 1911 is of special interest owing to the presence of objects which have obvious links to the Hunnic milieu. The young man buried there died in the first half of the 5th century AD, most likely in the early 430s. The Jakuszowice assemblage has been identified as the burial of a Hun, or alternately of an individual who was high up in a social hierarchy that had ties to the Huns. The Jakuszowice assemblage is thus highly relevant when interpreting the cultural situation and political circumstances on the territory between the Odra and Vistula rivers in Late Antiquity. New finds from this area allow us to look at these issues from a different perspective.pl
